敏感行业如何赢得公信力？

在德国化学工业协会(VCI)，德国矿业、化工和能源产业公会(IG-BCE)以及德国化工业主联合会（BAVC）的联合协作下，化工产业成为了德国协同可持续发展倡议道路上的领头羊。在 Chemie3 的框架下，无论是高级管理者还是普通员工，上述三个合作伙伴要共同承担责任。在我看来，这是一个独一无二的大联盟，它在促进经济、环境和整个行业的社会需求方面，发挥了巨大作用。

德国化学工业的可持续性指南是这个倡议的核心，它是我们整个行业以及行业内部的企业、员工等日常工作的方向，这项可持续发展指南是经过社会、政府、学界以及商界代表的大量内部对话、沟通产生的，此外，联盟合作伙伴的成员也都通过在线调查参与了指南的制定和发展过程。可以说，这项指南得到了行业内较广泛的认可和赞同。

然而，指南还仅仅是万里长征的第一部，接下来，我们希望能够追踪可持续发展进程中的每一个重要发展，其基础就是我们所设置的2017年进一步发展目标。最首要的是这个倡议的最终目标是帮助大多数公司，在实际运用指南的过程中取得实质性的改进。

为此，Chemie3的联盟伙伴成员需要知道和了解指南所带来的机会，而我们也会通过各种措施来支持VCI, IG BCE 和BAVC的所有成员。目前，一个由十几个公司所参与的试点项目正在运行。除综合性信息资料之外，一个新的可持续性检查才是人们关注的中心，可持续检查可以为不同规模的化工企业提供实用的相关工具，帮助企业识别各自重要的可持续议题。依据不同的标准，我们正在对相关领域进行探索和调查。

提示问题如下：

•伴随着社会发展的重要转折点，每一个公司会迎来什么样的机遇和挑战？

•最重要的利益相关方，如顾客、雇员或者邻居的期待是什么？

•对于实现公司目标来讲，这个议题究竟有多重要？

上述的试点项目将会在2014年夏天结束。随后，收集到的研究结果将会被归并到可持续检查的一个指南文档中，而Chemie3联盟合作伙伴的每一个成员都可以得到这个文档。相对于可持续倡议Chemie3来讲，这个试点项目也是另一种重要的里程碑。在指南公开发表后，这些具体的措施将有助于会员公司提高竞争力，也有助于他们向政府和社会各界展示整个倡议的公信力。

敏感行业如何赢得公信力？

在公众越来越重视企业运营对自身影响的今天，对于环境、安全和健康影响较大的行业的生存和发展环境面临挑战，特别是资源开发、冶炼、化工等行业。

我是公众一员，也对这些行业抱有成见，但在从事CSR工作之后，与部分行业接触较深，一些企业和行业的做法让我原有的看法发生了转变，其中就包括以巴斯夫为代表的德国化工业。

巴斯夫丝毫不避讳自己的行业属性，其公司logo中突出而清晰地表明“the Chemical Company”、“We create chemistry”，然而这样的做法没有让人生畏，而是让人信任。其信任的理由就在于：巴斯夫在任何的场合都始终扛起可持续发展的大旗，明确以“责任关怀”为核心的可持续发展目标对于公司来说是多么重要。在此指导下，以科学、严苛的EHS（环境、健康、安全）管理塑造产业链，并以生动、亲切的方式与青少年沟通，“小小化学家”活动让公众了解到，这个产业公众的美好生活是密不可分的，巴斯夫在通过“化学”创造美好生活。

核能让人爱让人怕，我是通过中国广核集团的“公众开放日”活动建立起对核能的信任，当我深入到企业内部，看到其如何在“善用自然的能量”的理念指导下，如何严密、严谨管理和运营，如何真诚与公众沟通核能的安全利用，让我放下心中对核能安全的恐惧感。

今天，“邻避”现象和事件越来越多，那些敏感的行业该做出积极的行动：宣誓可持续性的目标承诺，表达和社会发展的关系，透明决策和运营的影响。这是这些行业持久发展所必须要做到的。

Milestone for Chemie3 (Chemistry³): Newsustainability check

In this blog post Thorsten Pinkepank, Director Corporate Sustainability Relations at BASF writes about Chemie3, the sustainability initiative of the German chemical industry.

In a partnership between the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI), the Mining, Chemical and Energy Industrial Union (IGBCE) and the German Federation of Chemical Employers’ Associations (BAVC), the chemical industry is the first sector in Germany which has brought a collaborative sustainability initiativeon its way.

With Chemie, the three partners take responsibility collectively – from top management level to the regular employee. From my point of view, this is a unique alliance to promote the economic, environmental as well as social needs of an entire sector.

Sustainability guidelines for the chemical industry in Germany areat the heart of this initiative. These serve as an orientation for the dailywork of our sector, its companies and employees. The guidelines originate froman intensive internal dialogue between represent atives from society andpolitics, academia as well as the business sector. Additionally, the members ofthe alliance partners were involved in the guidelines’ development via anonline survey. Therefore, an even broader approval is achieved sector wide.

Nevertheless, the guidelines are just an important firststep. As a next step, we want to track our continuous progresstowards sustainable development. The foundation for this is formed by the goalswhich we have set ourselves for the further advancement until 2017. First andforemost the goal of the initiative is for the majority of companies to havereached substantial improvements in the application of the guidelines.

For this, the members ofthe Chemie3 alliancepartners need to know and understand the opportunities offered by the guidelines.We are supporting the members of VCI, IG BCE andBAVC in this process with various kinds of measures. Currently, a pilot projectwith a dozen companies is running. Besides comprehensive information material,a sustainability check is at the center of attention.

The sustainability check supports chemical companies of every sizewith practical relevant instruments to identify sustainability topics importantfor each of them. On the basis of different criteria the areas requiring actionare being enquired.

Guiding questions are:

-Whichopportunities and risks arise from the most important societal trends for eachcompany?

-Whatdo the most important stakeholders such as customers, employees or neighboursexpect?

-Howimportant is the topic for the achievement of the company goals?

The pilot project will run until summer 2014. Subsequently, thecollected results will be integrated in a guidance document on thesustainability check. This document will then be available for every member ofthe Chemie3 alliance partners. For the sustainabilityinitiative Chemie3, the pilot project is yet anotherimportant milestone. Following thepublication of the guidelines, these concrete measures will support membercompanies in increasing their competitiveness and demonstrate theentire initiatives’ credibility towards government and society.
